Celebrating Easter at Kingsacre Care Home
We had a wonderful time during the Easter bank holiday weekend at Kingsacre Care Home with lots of good food, company and entertainment.
Residents and children from the local dance school took part in an easter egg hunt where lots of mini easter eggs were hidden around the home. Residents also enjoyed a dance performance from some of the students in the foyer.
Residents, staff and the visiting children also took part in a Ya Dancer silent disco. There was plenty of delicious food and drink organised by the kitchen staff to keep everyone satisfied throughout the day.
At Kingsacre Care Home in Duntocher, we believe it's important to bring together people from different age groups, particularly young children and older adults, to interact and learn from each other.
Intergenerational socialisation provides a sense of purpose and meaning to the lives of older people. It gives them an opportunity to interact with younger people, share their life experiences and knowledge, and pass on their wisdom to the next generation. This sense of purpose and meaning can have a positive impact on the mental health and well-being of older people, helping to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Providing a silent disco is a form of music therapy for residents. Music therapy has been found to be particularly beneficial for individuals with dementia. Dementia is a progressive condition that affects memory, cognition, and behavior, and can often lead to social isolation and depression. Music therapy is effective for those with dementia as it can stimulate memories and emotions associated with music. Music has been found to be closely tied to memories, particularly those from earlier in life.
Music therapy can also help to improve communication and socialisation for dementia residents. Music can be used as a tool to facilitate communication between individuals, particularly when language has become difficult or confusing. It can also provide a shared experience that can help to build connections between individuals, particularly when participating in a group activity.
It's safe to say that the Easter celebrations were a big success at Kingsacre Care Home. We look forward to hosting more exciting events soon.
