Embracing the Outdoors: Cycling Without Age

outdoor activities

At Kingsacre Care Home, the past month has been full of joy and fresh air, thanks to our recent activities with Cycling Without Age West Dunbartonshire. We've had the pleasure of organising two visits where residents from local care homes could experience the simple pleasure of being outdoors, followed by a relaxing picnic in the park.

For many residents, these outings offer something they can no longer do on their own: getting out of the care home, enjoying the fresh air, and taking in the sights and sounds of nature. It's more than just a ride; it's a chance to reconnect with the outside world, feel the breeze, and enjoy a cycle around the park—what a fabulous experience for our residents at Kingsacre Care Home near Bearsden.

What is Cycling Without Age?

Cycling Without Age is a movement dedicated to enriching the lives of elderly and disabled individuals by providing access to the outdoors through our unique trishaw rides. These rides are not just about cycling; they’re about giving people the freedom to enjoy the outdoors, which is often inaccessible due to age or limited mobility.

They aim to enhance and enrich lives. Cycling Without Age strives to make the beautiful outdoors available to everyone, ensuring that no one is left behind due to physical limitations. We are committed to maintaining the highest safety standards, fully complying with the Scottish Care Inspectorate's requirements, and ensuring that all participants feel safe, respected, and valued.

The Great Outdoors

By being part of Cycling Without Age, residents not only enjoy the physical benefits of fresh air and gentle exercise, but they also become part of a Scotland-wide movement that values dignity, respect, and the joy of life. These outings are more than just a break from the routine—they’re a celebration of life, providing a wonderful opportunity for connection, joy, and the simple pleasures that make life special.
