Jubilee Celebrations and a Resident Interview with Reporting Scotland

Residents Celebrating Jubilee with Loved Ones

Here at Kingsacre Care Home, we had a blast over the Jubilee Weekend! However, it's our party on Friday the 3rd of June that was a memorable occasion. It was a fun-filled day from start to finish, with lots of dancing, laughing, and funny games. Oh, and what celebration would be complete without a celebratory cake?

We even had a royal visitor of our own at Kingsacre Care Home; our very own (cardboard cutout) Queen Elizabeth II was the subject of many a photograph, and our residents absolutely loved having her with us. Lots of our residents had a great time sharing stories and reminiscing about the events of 70 years ago. In fact, there was one very special resident of ours who went one step further…

One of our residents, Tommy, was thrilled to be interviewed for the BBC about his younger days during World War II in preparation for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. In 1947, during World War II Tommy lived in Clydebank and joined John Brown's Yard as a young apprentice joiner. The queen visited Clydebank to launch a new liner and thousands came along to see her pay tribute to the workers' bravery and spirit. Tommy was in the crowd and recalls that Queen Elizabeth waved to him.

Everyone had a fantastic time celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, and when the party wound down to a close, both the Kingsacre staff and residents were already looking forward to what we’d be celebrating next!
